  • What services does ECFD offer?
    ECFD offers a walk-in clinic, telehealth, a mobile clinic, in-home visits, and transportation coordination.
  • How much does an eye exam cost?
    Without insurance, a standard eye exam can cost $50 to $200. With an insurance, the co-pay is usually between $10 to $40.
  • What is covered by my insurance?
    Most vision insurance plans cover routine eye exams, but not usually the refraction test. Most medical insurance plans cover medical eye exams, but not usually the refraction test.
  • Do I need an appointment for an eye exam?
    No appointment is necessary at our walk-in clinics. However, if you prefer a scheduled time or need transportation assistance, please call 313-644-3233 (beginning March 31, 2025).
  • What should I bring to my eye exam?
    Photo ID Insurance card (if applicable) Current glasses or contacts List of current medications Medical history information
  • How long does an eye exam take?
    A comprehensive eye exam typically takes 45-60 minutes, including retinal imaging and health screening.
