Foundation's investment supports the nonprofit's mission to deliver essential eye exams and eyeglasses to older adults facing barriers to care.

DETROIT, MI — October 1, 2026. Eye Care For Detroit, Inc., doing business as Eye Care for Michigan (ECFM), is pleased to announce a $10,000 grant from the Senior Men's Club of Birmingham Foundation to support its efforts to increase access to essential vision care for underserved older adults.

The contribution will help Eye Care For Detroit deliver eye examinations and eyeglasses to seniors who face transportation, mobility and other barriers to receiving routine vision care.

The organization extends its appreciation to Jim Fleck, President of the Senior Men's Club of Birmingham, Kevin Doucett, Grants Chair, and the club's members for their commitment to community service and philanthropy.

"This $10,000 investment represents much more than financial support," said Dr. Cleamon Moorer, Jr., Founding Executive Director of Eye Care For Detroit. "It reflects a meaningful relationship built on mentorship, friendship and a shared commitment to serving others. We are deeply grateful to Jim, Kevin and the entire Senior Men's Club of Birmingham Foundation for believing in our mission. We will put every dollar to work helping older adults access the vision care they need."

Through its Detroit walk-in clinic and mobile vision care initiatives, Eye Care For Detroit works to reduce barriers to eye care and improve access for individuals who might otherwise go without essential services. Operating statewide as Eye Care for Michigan, the nonprofit is building partnerships and expanding its capacity to reach underserved communities across Michigan.

The $10,000 grant reinforces the importance of community philanthropy in supporting accessible healthcare and demonstrates how local organizations can collaborate to address the needs of vulnerable populations.

"Success is never achieved alone," added Dr. Moorer. "Partnerships like this help us translate our mission into meaningful action, and we look forward to continuing this relationship as we expand our reach and impact."
