Eye Care for Detroit (doing business as Eye Care for Michigan) is proud to announce the unanimous appointment of Dr. Mohamed Al-Sayed Al-Shabrawey, M.D., Ph.D., to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Al-Shabrawey is the V. Everett Kinsey Endowed Professor and Founding Director of the Eye Research Center at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, and Director of the Eye Research Institute at Oakland University. An internationally recognized vision scientist, his NIH-funded research program advances our understanding of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and other vision-threatening diseases — conditions that disproportionately affect the homebound and underserved populations our organization is committed to serving.
"Dr. Al-Shabrawey's commitment, excellence, and passion for our community make him a most fitting addition to our governing body," said Dr. Cleamon Moorer, Founding Executive Director. "His leadership and scientific expertise will help us continue enhancing access to vision care and health outcomes for at-risk populations across Southeast Michigan and our entire state."

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Al-Shabrawey to the ECFM family.
