April is National Minority Health Month, a time to draw attention to the health disparities affecting minority communities and promote actions to improve health outcomes.
Host Stephen Henderson talks with the founder of Eye Care For Detroit, a nonprofit organization created by Dr. Cleamon Moorer, Jr., is helping Detroit residents who are homebound and underserved get access to vision care. The organization operates the city’s first walk-in eye care clinic and a mobile unit that services patients at their homes.
Eye Care For Detroit was created in 2022 after Dr. Moorer found there was a lack of resources, information and awareness surrounding eye care, particularly among the homebound community.
